Aspiring Sound Engineer and Music Producer

I’m Chee Hann Lyang, an aspiring Sound Engineer currently pursuing my Diploma in Sonic Arts at Republic Polytechnic, graduating in 2027. Based in Singapore, I’m passionate about exploring what sound can achieve in media. Whether it’s music, studio work, or creative sound projects, I enjoy learning and experimenting. I’m constantly growing my skills and excited to collaborate with others who share the same love for audio.

"Thinking Out Loud" Cover Recording Project

As part of a module within my diploma, known as Recording Studio, I recorded a cover of the pop song, Thinking Out Loud by Ed sheeran. During this project, I made use of two music studios to record a drumkit, a guitar, a bass and a vocal track.

I used pro tools and got hands on experience with professional equipment. For example, I made use of multiple microphones (Shure SM58's, AKG C214's.), a Splitter, a Focusrite Thunderbolt and DI boxes. When all the recordings were done, I produced a refined mix within pro tools and made use of audio post-production techniques.

"Bring Me to Life" Cover Audio-Post

I was brought on as a recording engineer for a student project. It involved recording a cover for the song, "Bring Me to Life" by Evanescence. As part of the project, my role was to manage the recording of all the vocal portions along with overseeing the audio post-production to produce the final mix.

I was also given an opportunity to make use of my experience with singing. Due to the nature of the project, the singers were less experienced and so I worked with them to improve their skills over the course of the project's duration.
